I did a little test just now timing quote.com. I am using a dsl line. Its
8pm California time.
Access times were as follows:
$spx 1 min bars -1 day (390 bars)...time = 5 seconds for chart to appear
$spx 1 min bars -10 days (3900 bars)...time = 8 seconds
$spx 1 min bars -100 days (39000 bars)...time = 58 seconds
$spx 5 min-1 day (78 bars)...time = 5 seconds
$spx 5 min-10 days (780 bars)...time = 8 seconds
$spx 5 min-100 days (7800 bars)...time = 13 seconds
IBM 1 min bars -1 day (390 bars)...time = 5 seconds
IBM 1 min bars -10 days (3900 bars)...time = 10 seconds
IBM 1 min bars -100 days (39000 bars)...time = 38 seconds
I have no interest in ODS or quote.com...and your mileage may vary.
ODS does not yet chart bid/ask prices, only trades.
As for being able to correct any bad ticks, well all the data are on the
vendor's computers and you can't write on those:-)
You can save the data in ascii format and use it elsewhere on a different
system if you wish.
But "ODS" *only* reads data from a particular service. It will not read
.xpo or .omz or ascii for example.
