Thanks Kewitrades for trying to help me out, but the problem is already 
solved. Appearently when installing some free compilers from 
http://www.freebyte.com/programming/  then some of the ODBC files in the 
/windows/system had become replaced with new incompatible ones which among 
other things resulted in the 32 bit ODBC control in the Control Panel in 
Win 95 being numb, i.e. nothing happened as I tried to click on it. I then 
compared the dates of the ODBC files in the /windows/system directory with 
the ones in another computer and there the fault was. Anyway, perhaps 
someone else might learn something from "this journey".
