My ISP uses Spam Assassin, also quite good. It is also available for
individual use (may even be free). I use Spam Bouncer (free) on my
shell account. Very good and very configurable - can even send
complaints automatically to the senders ISP if you wish. I use
multiple accounts that get discarded when they get on too many lists.
Both Spam Assassin and Spam Bouncer insert detailed headers/comments,
and I use final filters in TheBat to place suspect mail in the 'right
place'. This helps with false positives quite a bit.
I get about 500-600 emails a day. With all of the above, there are
about 2-10 spams I need to look at. I can live with that.
