I don't know if the one page was all to the article ("Next" took me
to a page titled "Top Ten Telephone Tips") but I didn't see a mention
of the speeds.
Using a Sprint PCS 2G based phone (Sprint PCS is just now rolling out
3G phones) the maximum speed was 14.4 Kbps (which annoyed me as the
marketing nonsense said I'd have speeds "comparable to [my] modem".
Must've been written in 1994 or thereabouts...)
The 3G phones are supposed to be much faster but (Sprint at least)
will be charging by the amount of data transferred, not air time.
