off topic: running web server of cable / dsl

i guess it's getting pretty common these days to have a little personal
webserver on a home machine away from office, so
i plan to host a home based small  personal website mainly for play
on a w2k. research i have done shows that it's quite possible do 
accomplish with a cable or dsl modem and get decent up/down speeds,
for the price of about $50 per month, without having to pay for T1 for 
something you will use maybe a hour a day ( i am about 1 mile away from 
fiber broadband so my cable is fast, i notice no visual difference between
a t1 and my home cable  ).
so i was wondering if someone has experience in that or done that already
and would appreciate any feedback.
