Joe,
If you have to edit the ascii file try this. I finally found an
editor that allowed me to edit a very large .txt files and
secondly has an easy way of delimiting fields within each
line of text which allows you to change the appropriate
columns like the date and time fields. It called Windows Grep at
www.wingrep.com. Its not prefect but it is more appropriate
then NotePad, Wordpad and Word for the task at hand. It
hangs up after a couple of replaces but it did the job for
me.
