Personally, I would never ever put another dime into APC UPSes. There was
one guy in my office who used to use one. Every once in a while he would
wander into my office and say "Was there a power glitch?" His computer
which he had hooked up to an APC would kill his system anytime there was the
slightest drop in power. My system which didn't have any protection at the
time never noticed. I have had several different UPSes at home. Some APC
and some Best Power. I had one APC (I think it was a 200) that wouldn't
even support ONE of my 21inch monitors turning on while the damned APC was
plugged in to the wall!

The 2 Best Power units I've had have never given me a moments trouble. And
the price is pretty reasonable. UPS prices are way, way down from where
they were 5 years ago. I think I paid ~$300 for a Best Power 1000 a couple
of years ago.

those new dry cell car battery's and just hook them up some how. at
least on the weekends i could use them to double duty for my bass
