According to the Fed's CPI figures at
http://www.stls.frb.org/fred/data/cpi/cpiaucns, consumer prices are
4.64x higher than they were in 1970, 5.69x higher than in 1965.
So maybe he started out with the equivalent of $3-4k today. That's
still a pretty skinny account.
