It's been a long time since I saw that message, but I believe it means that
the server can't write the tick data out to the file on disk. Maybe the disk
is full, the network connection is broken ( if the server files reside on a
network disk), the file is corrupt or you might be poking around inside the
file for some reason.
As for alternatives, I believe there's Metastock and, as long as you don't
need to backtest or develop your own code, QCharts, which I use.

server in TS4 mean ?? What do I do to correct this. Down AGAIN !!
I think a saw someone recently ask if there is a software alternative to
Omega but I must have missed the answer -- please readdress. I'm ready for a
change.
