Re: New Computer

Dear Ted,

I'll be real curious about responses to your post.

For years, I have run TS4 on a dedicated computer --- simply nothing on
it (except ancillary programs) but TS4 --- and it has worked
flawlessly. It is a P233 MMX running Win98SE, which I might add has run
flawlessly as well --- it has never crashed.

In terms of ancillary programs, those supporting TS4 or trading in some
way, the only programs on my TS4 computer (besides TS4 and Win98) are
Netscape Communicator (used solely for data update), Norton SystemWorks,
Snagit, and WinZip. Every week I run System Works, and to my amazement,
I go week after week without SystemWorks finding any errors that have to
be corrected or any defragging that needs to be done.

In short, my P233 MMX w/Win98SE does everything I want with TS4 without
complaint or problem. For me, it has truly been a "Will wonders never
cease!"

The irony of all this is that my other computer, a P3/500 also running
Win98SE, is my "problem" computer. My main trading use of it is running
DynaStore (which feeds into the P233 for TS4) and order filling programs
--- and then I have all my other stuff on it: Netscape Communicator (my
main Netscape program and computer), MS Office, Quote.com (used only
occasionally), etc. One of the ideas I have had recently is simply to
bite the bullet and buy a dedicated computer solely to run DynaStore,
which recently has been giving me more lag in data transfer than I am
comfortable with (lag > 1 second). So while you are considering a
dedicated computer for TS4 (which I have and works flawlessly for me), I
am considering a dedicated computer for DS.

Sincerely,

Richard
