Real time may be defined as having no artificial delay introduced. As far as
technology induced delays or filtering, there is no need for regulation;
there are plenty of alternatives for the marketplace to determine what is
best. Incidentally, I know of at least one instance where the DBC feed ran
ahead of the exchange feed, this because their filtering reduced the
clogging of similar trades. Does this mean that DBC was faster than real
time? Beam me up, Scotty; prepare for the jump to light speed.
There are definite trade-offs and traders should be aware of them and
subscribe accordingly.
