To keep this pot of conflicting information simmering, let me throw in what
I was told by DTN tech support on Friday. They said that while they will
implement some changes to their feed over the next two weekends, the
addition of fields for "incremental volume" in futures contracts has been
postponed indefinitely. According to DTN, it was this incremental volume
field (or lack thereof) that apparently caused the Global Server to ball up
and eventually crash the last time they tried to add it to the feed. DTN
pleaded ignorance concerning Omega's patch - who can blame them.
In any case, without some prospect for an Ethernet / USB interface to
handle steadily increasing tick volume, TS2Ki seems destined to choke to
death as a viable intraday platform. On Friday, DTN said that recently,
Tradestation had, once again confirmed for them, that Tradestation had no
plans to make the software changes necessary to permit use of a higher
capacity data interface. Whatever Tradestation comes up with to make their
program compatible with DTN in the short run, the whole exercise strikes me
as a little like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.
Think I will back up and wait to see what happens Sunday night - Monday.
Regards,
Jim Alvis
