Dear erwilm,
No "right or wrong" way --- only my personal experience:
I have run as many as 3 PCs, always with a 4-monitor card (and, with
Win98, sometimes with 2 4-monitor cards), and as many as 9 monitors
simultaneously for trading. I'm now down to 2 PCs, both with a 4-monitor
card, but both set to only two monitors, for a total of 4 monitors. I
consistently find that for me, having the monitors in a row, at or
slightly above, eye level works best for me. When I had them stacked,
for example, 2 over 4 or 4 over 4, I just didn't get much out of the
upper row and hardly looked at them, except maybe before the open and
occasionally during the day. Consequently, my 4 monitors are now in a
row on my stand-up desk, for which I have an architect's swivel chair,
and the shelf above my desk, at the level of about my forehead, I now use
for storage (floppies, books, pens, paper, etc.). I'll be curious to
read other's responses to your question, as I imagine the responses (mine
included) will be highly idiosynchratic.
Sincerely,
Richard
