VPN is probably the best thing to do. Windows has built in drivers for PPTP
(Point-To-Point Tunnelling Protocol) clients. I've never set up a PPTP
server though. When your client connects to the server, it's like you are
connected on a private network to the server. Then you can do drive shares
or whatever across the PPTP link. PPTP uses encryption to encrypt packets
that go across the internet so that no one else can use them. It gives you
a private link across a public network. If you want to install the PPTP
client, go to Control Panel/Network/Protocols/Add and it should be in the
list.
As mentioned, firewalls will cause problems with VPN software but many of
them have ways to pass VPN packets. IPsec is another VPN standard.

Hello ,
i wonder if anyone has ever run across a software product that
will create a virtual private drive across tcp/ip like a network drive
but over the net?
