Greetings Mark,

Did some research and here's what I'd get for myself :)
My fellow hardware freaks have given www.newegg.com a good reputation
and they're pretty cheap. No affiliation, etc..

AMD XP chip
Matrox G450 32MB - $79
Western Digital 100GB 7200RPM - $202
AOpen 52X CD-ROM - $26
Mitsumi 1.44MB FDD - $9
Enlight 7237 /w 300W PSU - $47

comments: imho, matrox makes on of the greatest 2-d cards. i use to
have a dual head 32mb g400 and the sharpness was unparallel. i
haven't had experience with the g450 but i am pretty sure it has
great sharpness as well. 3-d is quite good as well on my g400 since
i played some games with it :)

enlight cases are sturdy, easy to built and are relatively
inexpensive.

hard drives: if you can, try to opt for a hard drive that is ata100
and to make sure the motherboard (most if not all new boards) supports
ata100.

cpu: get the fastest amd xp chip your budget allows for and the
motherboard is of course contingent on whether to go with ddr or sd
ram.

i can send more info on the two motherboards of choice (sdram/ddram)
if needed but i'm still doing some research on this. should have it
by tonight though.
