I have been quite content with Drive Image for drive/system backups. It
writes compressed drive images to CD-s (my 8G fit on 5 650MB CDRW-s) and
creates 2 floppies for booting. Of course if the bootfiles were on the CD-s
like HP-s have it would be a bit more convenient. Restoring the complete
system from the 2 floppies and 5 CD-s is fast and simple enough to justify
the $50 price in my opinion; reinstalling everything from zero will cost you
many times that in terms of your time.
I have not used Symantec's Ghost, though, but in terms of features and
reviews it looks like the two are pretty comparable. The reason I chose
Drive Image over Ghost was purely due to the fact that Ghost was not
available for download when I needed the software, and I did not have the
time for a trip to a retail store.

Hello BobR,
the problem i see is that a second hard drive is needed. the power
plant near me smokes during trading hours now and airplanes don't fly
overhead cause of the magnetic field my computer room radiates. plus
i am now ordering year end specials, buying even more computers for
tax reasons. so more hard drives is not what i want. if i needed
critical second by second back up the duocor product looks great and i
may try it on one or two computers that collect real time data.
but what i really need is something to get me back to a clean install
without having to do a clean install. thats what i need. m
duocor states the following from their web site.
Dedicated secondary hard drive with equal or larger capacity than the
sum of all partitions to be protected.
