Have you turned off all animations and the rest of the nice visual stuff?
There is somewhere the option to make the interface look Windows Classical,
and to optimize it for performance. Turning off all the animations will
make a difference; they are automatically enabled with the installation. My
XP-computer is much faster than my older 2000 one.

PS. Do you guys know that the password-checking stuff has already been
hacked? Now you can find a free XP on the 'net for download that will never
check the installation? And you can install it for free on as many
computers as you want? Reminds me of the high-security encryption on DVD-s
that was hacked shortly after DVD-s came out, which was delayed several
years solely for working out the proper encryption. Now you can download
all the Hollywood's hottest for free (although that's mostly garbage
anyway).

BlankMy internet computer died and I went out and bought a new XP version.
So far my feelings are pretty much all negative. Just in
installing/configuring software I have had about 4 crashes, most dealing
with outlook express. The speed is snail-like, even sending email is
obviously slower than 2000, despite the machine being more than 2x faster.
Right clicking on the background takes about 3 seconds to get a menu...with
2000 it is instantaneous.
Am I doing something wrong? This thing can't be this slow, can it? I am
considering reformatting the whole thing and starting from scratch with
w2000.
Thanks for any input,
Chris
