RE Server Directory Backup

Sorry if this comes through the list twice... email server is backlogged

Can someone point in the right direction to backup and restore data files. I
copied the server directory to CD's and then copied it to a new install. It
obviously is not that easy because it does not show the securities in the
global server. I was hoping to avoid exporting them and then re-importing
due to the fact it is around 880MB.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
