They probably use an inverse tangent function. It goes like this:

Tan (Angle) = y/x where y = verticle displacement(price) and x = horizontal
displacement(time).
To get the angle the inverse tangent function is used: Angle = Tan(-1)
(y/x);

 If afraid that probably doesn't help much.
