Download & install the "Sonork Client" program from www.sonork.com to talk
with a few traders for free. You do not need the "Sonork Server" program
which is only for large companies. Sonork is not a well-known IM compared
to ICQ or mIRC so not as many people use it - which is why it is so
excellent! The servers hardly ever go down and are very fast. I probably
shouldn't be publicizing it's existence. Oh well!
To answer your question, there is nothing to set up server-wise at your
end. You and your friends just register online to get a Sonork ID and then
authorise each other's ID, to be able to connect with each other ...that's
all there is to it. You all do this just once. Then everyday, your room
of people is already established and when you start Sonork you are all
ready to chat together privately. It's very simple ...the system tells you
when your friend/s logs on, when they disconnect etc. It has some nice
features too. You can have the message window minimised but auto-opened
whenever a message is received. You can temporarily change your status to
"Busy" if for example you are in the middle of a trade - so your friends
know not to bother you until you change your status back again. You can
also send files quickly over Sonork if you want ..nice for sending chart
screenshots.
I chose not to register my Sonork ID in the public address book - because I
talk with just one other trader. I set him up as "family" which means that
he will always see my status as "friendly" i.e. ready to talk with him. No
one else is in my authorised list except him, so anyone trying to gatecrash
our party would be turned away.
I've been happy with Sonork. Quick, easy to use, no ads, hardly takes any
PC resources, and it's free.
It does the job of text messaging perfectly.
