No, you're definitely not alone.

I've been coding various languages for 20 years or so, and OR EL is without
a doubt
the most confusing, bug ridden language I've ever used. I spend a LOT (read
10's
of hours) debugging some relatively simple systems, all because of
undocumented,
essentially random bugs in the OR code (and/or weird ways they have of
doing things)

Let me repeat: you are NOT alone. Hell, it's prolly one of the main reason
this
list exists.

Ask your question here, the pain you're going through -someone- here will have
gone through before.

What I -would- like to see would be a list (ala MSDN/MS Knowledge Base) of all
of the known 'weird' aspects, inconsistent behaviours etc of EL. That would
really
speed up the learning curve, as well as being able to scan & check for
anomalies..

/me hmms a little..

Si

ps, books will help learn the language, but won't help with the anomalies.
In my
experience, it's knowing the eccentricities of a language that differentiate an
expert from your average joe coder..
