This has been posted before but is worth rementioning in light
of this discussion. Instead of laying out big money on an
unknown book, try before you buy.
Go the reference desk of your public library and fill out an
interlibrary loan form. You will need book name and author.
Within a few days they will give you a call and you can test
drive it for free. I have done this several times and have
always been able to get a requested book.
