If you want a REAL eye opener go to http://www.grc.com and read the
ddos attack article very interesting and scary. This attack can take over
your computer giving up your account numbers, passwords, account balances
and god knows what else. Downloading Zonealarm is a defense for now and
there is some software which is free that will let you check your computer
to see if it is under control by zombie bots but read the article then you
will understand.
