I got a used Dell. Only needed tech support once and they were
great.
Kind of like my theory on used cars - let someone else take the
depreciation.
Horsepower out there is so great now, that being a few megahertz
behind the new systems doesn't matter. It'll be a long time before I
get software for my laptop that'll require the processing power in
today's new laptops. Keep in mind, I use mine as a backup and for
access while on the road. For the power crunching stuff I've got a
couple of desktops.
Also, if you go with a big name like Dell, you can be pretty sure
that drivers, manuals, firmware upgrades will continue to be
available on the web. With a second or third tier company, this
liklihood isn't as great.
