Is this the third or fourth time open source development
has been suggested on this forum? Just shows how many
clueless newbies there are around. Still, they will lose their
money soon and be off.
As to would be rivals of Tradestation touting for customers,
that has been going on for a long time as well. They will fall
down for the same reasons all the others have.
It's this. The most vital expenditure for Omega is in marketing,
not programming. That is because most people who start to
trade fail, lose their money and stop. So a company selling
trading software needs a constant supply of new recruits to
sell fresh software to.
All this talk about how much it would take to rewrite Tradestation
is crap. There is no way a big enough market to sustain it.
You've only got to look at the regular posts complaining about
an extra few bucks on this or that to realise this.
OK, so Omega is moving on with its new business model,
and will only spend as much money on its legacy products as it
has to. But they are still far and away the best personal analysis
tools out there. Just sit here for a few years and you will see others
being touted constantly, only for their limitations to become so clear
so quickly.
If the whiners apply the same level of thought to their trading as
they do to Tradestation, they will soon be gone. But then I knew
that already.
