AMD Athlon outperforms Pentium 4 - Intel defeated

For those looking to run the CPU intensive TS2000i in a real-time mode
fairly cheaply.......
Article in CRN magazine....Feb 12, 2001:

"The CRN Test Center has discovered that AMD's latest processor outperforms
Intel's for most business applications at a significantly lower price, even
though the AMD systems tested had lower clock speeds and slower memory"

Bottomline: For HALF the cost, you can get the same or slightly better
performance.....
key detail: buy an AMD machine 1.2 gig with a ASUS A7V motherboard
supporting PC133 memory...
DO NOT GET one with a Gigabyte motherboard supporting the newer DDR type of
ram which is twice as expensive and not that much faster.(also, you need to
read Taiwanese to get tech support from Gigabyte !)

Intel finally defeated. Who in the tech world will fall next ? Cisco ?
