I could be misunderstanding your complaint but keep in mind that options are
agency transactions, not principal transactions. In other words, they are
passed on to the floor for execution in open outcry or with a specialist.
Spreads and combinations tend to have wider bid/offer spreads which makes
execution a bit more difficult. I am assuming you saw the individual
options trading at prices that equaled your combo price and assumed your
trade was done.
