I turn off ActiveX controls in my browser. Dig around in Options to find
out where to do this. I only allow ActiveX controls to run from sites where
I explicitly want to use the functionality offered from the site. Once an
ActiveX control is running, it can do anything it was programmed to do.
Anti-virus can't always protect you because the ActiveX controls won't
function like a widespread virus. There is no "fingerprint" for the AV
software to look for. Each customized ActiveX control is different. Backup
your data.

Hi Kent,
Thanks for the "heads up." But, could you possibly explain more as to
possible safeguards/software that can be installed and utilized to prevent
any of these nasty things that you outline above?
