My fear for Ts.com, rather than winge at the price, these are my concerns.
1) Browser based trading software is new in the trading world, and may take
a good 12 to 18 months to bug out.
This will be done mostly by all the newbies who subscribe to it. Thus all
the previous experience traders with Ts2000i or Ts4 wont
get in behind this product and work with omega to achieve a bug free
program. The participation of current customers will depend upon well
respected 3rd party
reviews in the next 6 months or so. If they are poor reviews Omega will be
worried, very worried. If they are fantastic reviews well maybe they have
reached the same
product success as they have with Ts4 in the past, and we will jump on. But
it will be a long year before the verdict will be clear.
(Maybe this is why there is no SP6 for Ts2000i yet)
2) If you live outside the USA and internet access is your data feed, it is
best to have many server connection choices, so
as to allow freedom to ping better servers to get around data feed problems
due to internet traffic. To take a away freedom to chose
the better connection makes me nervous. This also goes for the online order
entry method , that Ts.com no doubts supports.
3) Ts.com has basically centralised all the services for trading : (1) Data
feed, (2) No doubt online order entry, (3) Charting package.
This policy usually leads to failure for simple reason that specialised 3rd
parties with special talents can do the decentralised jobs
much better than one central party. The may become the best central service
provider, but ranked very low in each individual task they do in
comparison with 3rd parties who do the individual services. There early
market success was with there reputation with Ts4, they have fundamentally
moved away from providing the best charting package to trying to provide the
best allround trading service.
4) The performance of tech stocks will be not be great in the post election
period. Thus any bad reviews of Ts.com will not be treated lightly by the
market.
Also trading may not be in vogue as major indices show that the market is
not as hot as it used to be, thus less newbies to sign on to Ts.com
5) I hope the omega company has plenty of cash/capital behind it, because it
may need it latter on in the year or next year to finance is redirection of
its
fundamental market target as mentioned in note 3. If not it may be a good
buy by a competitor to do it for them.
Will omega win, I hope so, cause winning with ts.com will mean more money in
there coffers and I hope more money to spend on existing customers with
Ts4 and Ts2000i. If not I hope that they have the funds to redirect their
priorities to there original fundamental purpose of providing the best
charting package.
These I my views, not to be published in any other place than omega-list.
Please forward your intelligent comments to the omega list.
