I believe this is implemented by a standard mail header line, and is
defined in the mail standards. But not all ISP's/mailservers/etc
support it.
On a related topic, you might want to think twice about sending those
"e-cards" to your friends. You have just given your friends'
addresses to a commercial site. That site doesn't provide you those
e-cards out of the goodness of their hearts. There's a very good
chance they'll sell your friends' addresses to spammers.
Sending me one of those cards is a good way to get on my s**t list.
