They'll have to work out a centralized payment system before that can
succeed. Do you think cable TV would have worked if, every time you
wanted to watch Ally McBeal, you had to whip out your credit card and
remember a login/password? PPV (pay-per-view) can work, but not as
the only model for the entire network or the entire internet, and not
with such a fragmented payment mechanism.
