TradeStation Pro Upgrader Information


GENERAL

Can I use TradeStation Pro at my home and the office? 
Yes, but not at same time.  However, if you forget to log off at
either
location and you log on at the other, you will not need to worry.
We
will
detect the former connection and allow you to disconnect the former
in
order to connect the latter one.  In addition, since TradeStation
Pro
manages and stores all the data, you will not have any data gaps at
either
location.  If you would like to have the same EasyLanguage analysis
techniques and workspaces available on both machines, you will need
to
copy them from one machine to the other. 

Can I work offline?
Yes.  TradeStation Pro offers historical and streaming, real-time
data
through our TradeStation Network.  TradeStation Pro caches the data
that
for those symbols that you request onto your hard drive so that you
can
view this data offline, when you’re not connected.

Can I place trades from within TradeStation Pro? 
Currently, TradeStation Pro does not have this capability, however,
we
are
working on a solution that will integrate with TradeStation
Securities
to
bring you state of the art, fully integrated, intelligent
direct-access
order routing and execution.

When will I be able to get RadarScreen and/or OptionStation?
This will be available in a future release, please check our web
site
for
updates.  

Will I still have the TradeStation 2000i Strategy Builder?
The purpose of the TradeStation 2000I Strategy Builder was to be
able to
combine Signals in order to create a Strategy.  In TradeStation Pro,
we
have now integrated this functionality directly into the Chart
Analysis
window so that you can directly apply and combine multiple
strategies
(formerly known as Signals) directly onto your chart.

Will I still have the TradeStation 4.0 QuickEditor?
Instead of including the QuickEditor, we now include the
TradeStation
Pro
PowerEditor which provides much greater power and flexibility when
using
EasyLanguage to write your Analysis Techniques and/or Strategies.

Will I still have the Chart Scanner/ Workspace Assistant?
No, TradeStation Pro does not include this functionality.  

Will I be able to get TradeStation Pro on CD rather than download
it?
No, TradeStation Pro is available only as a download.   This is
because
we
have integrated a web-based approach so that it only downloads the
files
that you need and will automatically prompt you, upon startup, when
a
newer version is available.
 
Now that I’ll be subscribing to TradeStation Pro, can I transfer my
license (sell) my old copy of TradeStation?
No, the software license for Omega Research products is not
transferable.
However, we do offer discounts to existing TradeStation users to
reward
you for having purchased an older version.

Will I still be billed on my credit card for any unpaid portion of
my
TradeStation 2000i purchase?
Yes, but Omega Research offers discounts to existing TradeStation
users
to
reward you for having purchased an older version, however you must
pay
off
TradeStation 2000i in full.


 
MARKET DATA

How much history is available on the TradeStation Network?
The TradeStation Network provides over 30 years of history on daily
data,
up to 1 year on intra-day (minute) data and 10 days of tick data.

What markets are available on TradeStation Network?
The TradeStation Network provides data on Stocks, Indexes and Mutual
Funds.  We are planning on providing data on Futures and Options in
the
near future.

How do I fix bad ticks?
Since all the data is saved and maintained by the TradeStation
Network,
which is operated by us, you no longer have to worry about fixing it
yourselves.  Built into the TradeStation Network is a tick filtering
mechanism, which automatically filters bad ticks and marks those
that
are
suspicious for our Data Network team to investigate.


UPDATES / SERVICE PACKS
 
How will I know that there is a new update/service pack and how do I
download it?  
With TradeStation Pro, it’s automatic.  Upon logging on, we will
automatically notify you of a new update and you will have the
option of
downloading it then or waiting until later, perhaps when the market
is
closed.  

Is there a cost for updates/service packs?
No, TradeStation Pro is a subscription service and includes all
updates/service packs


REQUIREMENTS

What are the minimum and recommended requirements?
MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS 
·       Pentium or higher IBM Compatible PC
·       64 Megabytes of RAM
·       Hard Disk (60 Megabytes Free Space)
·       1024x768 Monitor Resolution
·       Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000
·       Microsoft Internet Explorer  (Version 4.0 or higher)
·       Dial-Up (56K bps) or Direct (Cable Modem, DSL, T1)
connection to the
Internet

RECOMMENDED SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Do I still need to subscribe to a data vendor such as eSignal, BMI,
PC
Quote or DTN?
No, TradeStation Pro is a subscription service, which includes the
software, all updates to the software, and all the streaming
real-time
data that is provided by the TradeStation Network

Does TradeStation Pro use more memory than TradeStation 4.0/2000i? 
No, actually TradeStation Pro takes up less memory due to the fact
that
the GlobalServer is not required, nor is it included, in
TradeStation
Pro.

Does TradeStation Pro use more hard disk space than TradeStation
4.0/2000i? 
No, actually TradeStation Pro takes up significantly less hard disk
space
since all the data is not required to be saved on your local
machine.


COMPATIBILITY

Can I install TradeStation Pro on same machine as TradeStation
4.0/2000i?
Will they both work?
Yes, you can install TradeStation Pro on the same machine as
TradeStation
2000i or TradeStation 4.0.  It will, by default, install to a
different
directory so the older applications will be preserved.

Is TradeStation Pro ready for decimalization?
Yes, TradeStation Pro has gone through rigorous tests in our Quality
Assurance Department for decimalization.
 
Will my workspaces from a prior version work in TradeStation Pro?
And
will they be automatically converted?
Due to the vast amount of changes and optimizations that we have
made,
you
will not be able to use the workspaces that were created in a
previous
version; therefore, they will not be transferred over to
TradeStation
Pro.

Will I be able to use the data that I have collected with a previous
version?
TradeStation Pro uses a whole new approach to data collection,
maintenance
and retrieval.  You no longer have to store and maintain your data,
TradeStation Network does it all for you.   Simply start
TradeStation
Pro,
choose to Log On to the TradeStation Network and you will have
access to
all the historical and real time streaming data available, anytime
and
from anywhere.   For example, when you create a chart, all the
historical
data is pulled from our massive historical databases maintained on
the
TradeStation Network.  All this data is available on demand whenever
you
request a chart.  

Do my TradeStation 4.0/2000i custom symbol lists get converted?
Your symbol lists will not be automatically converted, however, you
can
copy your symbol lists to the new TradeStation Pro directory
structure.

Is TradeStation Pro compatible with Portfolio Maximizer. Will my
Portfolio
Maximizer 4.0 work with TradeStation Pro or is there a newer version
of
Portfolio Maximizer that I will need to get?
TradeStation Pro, just like TradeStation 2000i, will not work with
Portfolio Maximizer 4.0.  Both TradeStation Pro and TradeStation
2000i
will, however, work with Portfolio Evaluator 2000, available from
Rina
Systems.  Therefore, if you are currently using Portfolio Evaluator,
you
will be able to continue using this version after upgrading to
TradeStation Pro.  For upgrade pricing and information, please
contact
Rina Systems (www.rinasystems.com).

Does TradeStation Pro support third-party data formats (E.g. TC2000,
CSI,
Metastock)?
No, TradeStation Pro does not support third party formats.  Plotting
third
party data correctly requires having the symbol attributes, which
were
formerly stored in the GlobalServer (known as the Universe).  Since
we
have removed the GlobalServer, this information is not currently
available.


EASYLANGUAGE / SOLUTION PROVIDERS

How secure is the confidentiality of my EasyLanguage analysis
techniques,
strategies and workspaces?
All of these are saved on your local machine and we do not have any
way
of
viewing them.

What will happen to all the Analysis Techniques and Strategies that
I’ve
edited or created in a previous version?
When you install TradeStation Pro, it will automatically detect the
most
recent version that you have installed on your computer and prompt
you
whether you would like to convert or not.  Upon choosing to convert,
the
setup process will convert over any Analysis Techniques or
Strategies
that
you have modified or created.   Once TradeStation Pro is launched,
you
will have access to all your own Analysis Techniques and Strategies
plus
all of our new, enhanced ones.  

Will the Analysis Technique or Strategy that I purchased from a
Solution
Provider or received from someone else still work (.ELS or .ELA
files)?
Yes, we are committed to ensure that any Analysis Technique or
Strategy
previously created will continue to work with TradeStation Pro. 
However,
a user with an older version of TradeStation will not be able to
import
EasyLanguage Analysis Techniques created with TradeStation Pro until
he/she upgrades.

Will I still need the security block (aka dongle) to run certain
Analysis
Techniques that I purchased from a Third Party Solution Provider?
No, you will no longer need the security block.  With our new
technology,
we are able to pass your block number through the TradeStation
Network
to
the Analysis Technique that needs it.   So you’ll be able to use
your
analysis technique at home or work without dragging the security
block
with you.

I have a third party application that’s compatible with TradeStation
2000i.  I have a password for it that relies on my TradeStation
2000i
customer number.  Will my customer number be the same if I upgrade
to
TradeStation Pro?
As long as you use the special offer code sent to you in the upgrade
email, we’ll be able to identify you correctly and ensure that you
have
the same customer number.

If I am a Solution Provider, what security measure should I use when
creating my Analysis Techniques/Strategies? 
Each subscriber to TradeStation Pro will be assigned a Customer ID
number.
This field should be used as the security key when validating a
user. 
As
with the BlockNumber, this field will be passed by the TradeStation
Network upon request.  The keyword in EasyLanguage is CustomerID.

Will I still be able to use the Analysis Technique that calls a
.dll?
Yes, this will continue to work as it did in TradeStation 2000i.
TradeStation Version 4.0 users will need to get updated DLLs that
are
32bit from Omega Research Solution Providers.

Will I still be able to use those solutions that I have purchased
which
reads/writes to the Tracking Center?
No, TradeStation Pro does not include this functionality.

Will I still be able to use those solutions that I have purchased
which
needs/uses data from the GlobalServer?
Since TradeStation Pro does not use the GlobalServer, a third party
solution used in TradeStation Pro will not be able to retrieve the
data
contained therein.  However, we will be releasing a version soon
that
will
allow Third Party Solution Providers to access data from the
TradeStation
Network.


SUPPORT

Where are the manuals/documentation and how do I get them?
Besides making the software web-based, we have extended our
documentation
to be web-based as well.  This means that the documentation is
available
at all times to be viewed or downloaded and most of all, since it is
maintained by us, we can make updates to it with each new update to
the
software or through feedback from our users.

Will Omega Research continue to support TradeStation 2000i?
Yes, we will continue to support all 2000i products.

Will you be changing the hours for phone support?  If so, what are
the
new
hours?
