You are both correct: there seems to be a problem and I can avoid it by
storing necessary data in variables or arrays. My signals calculate off
synthetic longer time frame bars, making MaxBarsBack blow up. But I wanted
to code them quickly and did not find computer power to be a limitation.
Anyway, I started today rewriting signals using arrays and it's not bad once
you get used to it - that's definitely the solution.
