alert and update

Let's say I used a moving average crossover indicator.
 I check-marked both "Enable Alert" and "Update every
tick" in the properties. What I got was the alert
message on every tick after the crossover.  What I
really want is an update of the indicator on every
tick but with only one alert per crossover.  Could
anyone suggest a code for that?
