My experience with TS2000i is exactly the opposite from that of Jim Johnson.
While I am no great fan of the way Omega Research has treated their
customers (TS2K was released way to early), by simply continuing to use TS4
until TS2K,SP5 was released, I have avoided all the problems that many on
this list have suffered. In four months of collecting intraday data with
TS2K, the program has crashed only once (during a mid session, complex
optimization), requiring a simple reboot of the TS2k while Global Server
continued unaffected.
I am running TS2K on a 700 MHz Dell Workstation 420 with 256k ram. Following
the advice of William Woods of this list, I clean installed TS2K from CD
(SP4, then SP) over a clean install of Win2000. I DID NOT import data or
workspaces from TS4! I run order entry software and all other Internet
programs via DSL on a COMPLETELY SEPARATE PII box with ZoneAlarm freeware
personal firewall. I use System Suite 2000 and Diskeeper 5 to maintain my
TS2k box EVERY night. Data is DTN satellite through a Digi high speed serial
card (I do miss breath info on DTN).
All in all, this setup has proved to be a very stable trading platform,
allowing me to focus on the markets.
Regards,
Jim Alvis
