It's true that Windows 3.1 is much more stable than 95/98. But it does
not have support for long filenames and long directory (folder) names,
which can cause problems with programs written for 95 and higher. If it
expects to store data in a folder called "C:\Global Server," for example,
then it won't run. I would recommend that you hear from people who have
been running TS4 under Win 3.1 before trying it yourself (unless you want
to be a trailblazer, in which case I'm sure more than a few people would
be interested in your results!).
Windows 2000 is highly stable. I don't know whether TS4 runs well on
Win2K (I run TS2000i). If it does, and you're buying a powerhouse
machine, then you could buy one from a large manufacturer with Windows
2000 pre-installed, and you'd have a great solution for trading, IMO.
Good luck!
