Why anyone at this point is using win95/98 and/or TS 4 I can not
imagine. I have not had any memory problems with Win 2000 and it is
stable. No lock ups, no crashes. You will lose some functionality in
your current hardware. My HP 722 jet printer does not have all the
features it did with W95. HP is too cheap to write good, new, W2000
drivers for it. I must assume they want you to buy new printers! (I have
complained to them). Graphics cards will work but again, some
functionality such as refresher rates will resticted.
TS 2000 sp5 is stable and I have found only one "bug" that occurs once a
month. Namely, after having 12 workspaces, with 4 charts each, open 24
hr a day for a week, an "invalid date" may appear when trying to open a
new chart. Closing charting and reopening cures the problem. (A work
around has be posted ). TS 2000 has many features that TS 4 does not,
e.g., split windows and undo in the powereditor. And of course, no
13,000 tick or 64 K limit. The only feature that I miss from TS 4 is the
ability to make a custom data list from the ChartScanner with the
results of an EOD scan. I still use TS4 to scan EOD.
It has been a year (and for me hundreds of hours) suffering through sp2
- sp5 but it appears to me that TS 2000 is now on par in stability with
TS 4. The only issue for me is the data feed and I hope to soon post my
results on DTN sat., PC Quotes, eSignal, and Quote.com.
