G'day OM (with a Yeehaa?),

Just after I send my message, I realised this list's "trading system"
definition is not quite the same as that of the US Patent Office. Theirs may
be more appropriately termed as "Enterprise trading operation" - more on a
macro level.
-----------------------------------------------
Typical examples are:

5,950,176 Computer-implemented securities trading system with a virtual
specialist function
Abstract
The present invention discloses a method, apparatus, and article of
manufacture for a computer-implemented financial management system that
permits the trading of securities via a network. A server computer receives
buy and sell orders for derivative financial instruments from a plurality of
client computers. The server computer matches the buy orders to the sell
orders and then generates a market price through the use of a virtual
specialist program executed by the server computer. The virtual specialist
program responds to an imbalance in the matching of the buy and sell orders.

5,915,209 Bond trading system
Abstract
The invention provides a computer-implemented municipal bond trading system
having a capability to conduct a private electronic auction of bid wanteds
between a central brokers' broker and multiple prospective remote bidders
and to maintain a reference database of accurate bond lot descriptions and
identifications, notably, CUSIP (trademark) numbers.
-----------------------------------------------

I was more interested in engineering patents and as a digression used
obvious search strings like "easy language" and "computrac" without success.
I did not expect any as the prerequiste of patent grant would entail a
certain amount of disclosure of the algorithm.

Bottom line - nothing useful for me - unless you have the intention of
starting another ECN, etc.
