Another alternative may be the FREE Zone Alarm program,winner of many
awards.  http://www.zonelabs.com/

Although I am far from an expert in this type of security,I Believe one
of the Main differences between Zone Alarm and most others is that it
also protects from malicious content that may ORIGINATE from your
computer,outward..

Anyway,as mentioned it is Free,even for those individuals with more than
one computer.
