I e-trade from Germany. Depending on circumstances, there are between
14 and 21 hops to the broker's server in Chicago. During the day-trading-
session I check my connection with Pingplotter (a traceroute utility)
every 2 minutes. The roundturn time is between 160 and 200
Milliseconds. If the roundturntime gets worse I change the IP (I use two
IP's to have a fallback option). With this solution I have had no problems
unless the broker's server (namely PMBe) went down. In this case I
changed brokers.
