RE: PAGE- FAULT ERRORS AND OTHERS WITH PROSUITE 2000 !!

If I were you I would instantly upgrade to Win2k. In my experience Win98
cannot run TS2000 reliably. Under Win98 I had to reboot every day or more
often to keep it running. I then upgraded to NT and ran Ts2k for weeks
under NT4 SP4-6. Under Win2k I have been running Ts2k SP4c since 2/17/2000
without rebooting and with zero probs. Win2k is by far the best O/S I have
ever used.
If you try this do a clean install of Win2k, that is let the install program
format the partition where the O/S will be installed and the partition where
Ts2k will be installed. Use the NTFS file system. If you have room create
a 1gb partition and put the paging file there; set min size at 567mb (1.5x
ram) and max the balance of the 1gb partition. Then install Ts2k from
scratch so you have no old files whatsoever.
Another problem may be corrupt data or workspaces. I now recreate
workspaces and download new data when doing a clean install of Ts2k. I have
had persistent problems using old workspaces or data collected under prior
service packs.
You did not mention the brand of your computer. Unless you definitely know
what you are doing buy first tier brand name computers like IMB HWP CPQ DELL
MEUI or GTW.
Finally get Diskeeper 5.0 and keep your partitions defragged. Set it to run
every day in the background late at night.
All of this has my trading computer running without any problems whatsoever.
Good Luck

Subject: Fw: PAGE- FAULT ERRORS AND OTHERS WITH PROSUITE 2000 !!

I routinely get these - sometimes several times a day - and have to re-boot
my machine in the middle of trying to make a trade - GREAT fun - just about
ready to give-up (CLASS ACTION LAW SUITE ANYONE??). This situation seems to
come and go but maybe worse when receiving real-time data (less than 500
symbols) - with no apparent ryhme or reason and Omega has had me jump thru
all the "solution hoops" about 50 times!!

ALL-THE-TIME FREQUENT ERROR MESSAGES I GET ARE:

- TS32 HAS CAUSED AN INVALID PAGE FAULT IN MODULE MFC42.DLL @ MEMORY
LOCATION
- ORRADAR HAS CAUSED AN INVALID PAGE FAULT IN MODULE MFC42.DLL@xxxxxx
LOCATION
- FAILED TO LAUNCH SERVER APPLICATION

LESS FREQUENT (BUT STILL FUN) ERROR MESSAGES ARE:

- TS32 HAS CAUSED AN INVALID PAGE FAULT IN MODULE OTP52AS.DLL@xxxxxx
LOCATION
- SERVER CAUSED INVALID PAGE FAULT IN MODULE SERVER.EXE@xxxxxx LOCATION
- WIROS CAUSED INVALID PAGE FAULT IN MFC42.DLL @ MEMORY LOCATION
- ORTRADE CAUSED A GENERAL PROTECTION FAULT IN MODULE KERNEL32.DLL@xxxxxx
LOCATION
- SERVER CAUSED A GENERAL PROTECTION FAULT IN MODULE KERNEL32.DLL@xxxxxx
LOCATION
- ORTRADE CAUSED INVALID PAGE FAULT IN MODULE KERNEL32.DLL@xxxxxx LOCATION
- SERVER CAUSED INVALID PAGE FAULT IN MODULE KERNEL32.DLL@xxxxxx LOCATION
- ORRADAR CAUSED INVALID PAGE FAULT IN MODULE USER.EXE @MEMORY LOCATION
- THE ORELP.DLL FILE IS LINKED TO MISSING EXPORT ORLIB32.DLL-VERIFY INPUT@xx
(THIS IS A GOOD ONE!!)

AND - LAST BUT NOT LEAST:

- FATAL EXCEPTION OE HAS OCCURRED AT 0028:C004F320 IN VXD
VCACHE(01)+00000B20 (THIS IS THE BEST -THO!!!)

I've got a P-III 500 with 378 of RAM - a 13 GB HD and Win98 2nd Edition with
a 6GB partition set-aside for Prosuite and DBC on-line - also using a
Voodoo3/2000 video board (why do I think this is a video problem!?) The
server problems seem better now that I've swithced back to E-Signal on-line
from PC Quote - don't get the C-tree errors now. Also, I've done a "clean
install" of Windows some time ago with the help of Micro-Soft tech support
and was told that if that didn't take care of the problems it was DEFINITELY
the application. Of course I've uninstalled and re-installed Prosuite 2000
about 2000 times (maybe that's where they get the name?) but I'm kind of
wondering if I STILL might have a corrupt registry file some where!!?? I
have about 10K symbols in the Global Server and like to keep 5-6 workspaces
open with 5-6 charts in each along with a Radar Screen in each and a couple
hundred symbols with 30 indicators per.

I found something recently in the Micro-Soft knowledge base about the kind
of fatal exception errors that I get and a mention was made of disabling the
DMIStart Utility in Win98 - does anybody know what this does and might it
help!!??

Speaking of Knowledge Bases - the Omega one addresses some of these issues
for prior service-paks - I've got the latest (4C) one installed of course -
but think this is kind of curious !? I purchased Prosuite last Spring when
it first came out and have religously updated - is there a "Bad Boy" in my
registry files from the older versions or what??!!! I was having similiar
problems when running P2000 with Win95 - interesting!?

This is REALLY my last attempt at resolving these issues and I hope that
some smart person(s) out-there can help me - there does seem to be a lot of
you as most of the time I don't know what the hell you're talking about :)
