Karl,
I have had good experiences with Jack Carl. I primarily trade via phone to
a trade desk although I have used their on-line trading system. I like the
phone since they call me back on my cell phone and I don't have to stare at
a computer screen all day. It is a lifestyle issue with me.
Since June of 1999, I have entered about 370 orders with the "109 desk", so
both they and I have developed a great rapport. I sometimes call in my
orders to the night desk the evening before, but I prefer to call the
daytime trade desk to maintain the rapport.
JC also has an Internet system called eMidas where you can get rapid trade
and balance status. It is a good backup for me to verify trades and prices.
Only one time in my experience did I get screwed by an error on their part.
A night desk trade order for a Sell Stop on British Pound was translated the
next day as a limit order and the trade was executed nowhere close to my
stop. Therefore, my trade was executed when it shouldn't have been. I
didn't discover the mistake until the next day and JC wouldn't fix the
trade.
I was really pissed off, but rather than closing my account and moving to
another broker I have stuck with the "109 desk." I feel that their service
to me, in the past and I anticipate into the future, overshadows a $1300
loss.
