Remember the rename problem. It's still there in TS4 b 26.

Today Qwest Communications changed from QWST/NASDAQ TO Q/NYSE.
Use the attached instructions to rename the symbol without
loosing your tick data.

Dear Mr. Grisham,

I apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced with this
problem. My previous instructions were written specifically for CCI
changing to C, but the steps below are more generalized, and can be used
with any symbol. As an example, I have made specific references to the
symbol CAI/B, and its change to CAI.

This issue of renaming symbols in a way that reduces the symbol by more than
2 characters is true for all symbols in the TradeStation 4.0 Server. The
tick data is always the data that is deleted, not the daily. Please use the
following steps to reduce the 3 or more character symbol by two or more
characters, without loosing your tick data. Note: All symbols typed in
quotes below, need to be typed without the quotes when working in the
software.
1.	In your Omega Research Server, click File | Portfolio.
2.	In the Portfolio, highlight the symbol to be renamed, and click
Rename.
3.	In the Rename Symbol/Exchange dialog, in the New Symbol Name text
box, remove the last character in the symbol, so it is one character
shorter. In other words, with the symbol "CAI/B", only remove the "B" from
the symbol name.
4.	Click OK. The system will display a message telling you that the
symbol is being renamed from "CAI/B" to "CAI/", or what ever the symbol you
are renaming has just been changed to.
5.	Once this is finished, you can verify that your data is still there,
through the Edit Tick window. Just Cancel the Edit Tick window to close it.
6.	In the Portfolio, with newly renamed symbol highlighted, click the
Rename button again, to get into the Rename Symbol/Exchange dialog again.
7.	In the Rename Symbol/Exchange dialog, within the New Symbol Name
text box, reduce the symbol by the next character that needs to be removed.
In this case you will change "CAI/" to "CAI". This time, you will be
removing the "/" from the symbol name.
8.	Click OK. The system will display a message telling you that the
symbol is being renamed. In this case, from "CAI/" to "CAI".
9.	Once again, you can use the Edit Tick window to verify that your
data is still there.
10.	Repeat steps 6 - 9 until the symbol has been shortened to the
appropriate number of characters.
11.	For this specific case, you would then highlight "CAI", and click
Rename.
12.	In the Rename Symbol/Exchange dialog, in the New Symbol Name text
box, change the symbol from "CAI" to CAL".
13.	Click OK. The system will display a message telling you that the
symbol is being renamed from "CAI" to "CAL".

The key to remember is that the name can only be reduced by one character at
a time, or you will loose your tick data. Once the name has been shortened,
then you can change the characters in the name to the appropriate name.
Your daily data should remain intact even if you change the name by two or
more characters at a time.

This will take care of the renaming issue for you.
If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Chris R.

<< Message: C1210cr/ symbol rename problem >> This morning
I tried to rename CAI/B to CAL, due to Continental Airlines changing their
NYSE symbol of their class B shares.
Just as when Citigroup grabbed the single letter stock
symbol C/NYSE and dropped their old symbol CCI/NYSE, a rename of CAI/B to
CAL looses all tick data. It does keep the daily data, amazingly.
What is the "cure" this time? Why don't you explain fully
all the ramifications of the TS 4.0 rename bug, so your users will not have
to experiment with each case of a symbol change? Rather you could tell the
truth and the whole truth about the scope of the rename bug and save us all
a lot of grief.
