There is something wacky about delay problems with DTN. Like Roy I have
been using DTN satellite since spring 99. There is no delay in DTN stock
quotes. My ticks match my broker perfectly and when I buy stocks at the
market I get the ask displayed by DTN virtually every time. If you have
delay you have a hardware or software setup problem. You must have a high
speed serial port set to 460,800kbps or you will loose ticks.
There is a horrendous problem with DTN however - Market Stats. You cannot
chart or use market stats like NYSE Total vol or ADv/DEc Vol or Adv/Dec
Issues in formulas. This is because DTN transmits mkt stats in composite
symbols (several values under one symbol instead of separate symbols). Thus
you cannot use Total volume in any way or compute and advance decline line.
DTN and Omega have refused to fix this problem to date. I had a similar
problem with S&P Comstock but they fixed it by breaking out thier stats into
separate symbols. I have called and written to DTN many times. They have
ignored me completely and never even acknowledged my correspondence.
Amazing how arrogant data vendors are.
