Yesterday I reported a problem that caused TS2k to crash every time I
would click on a 'mixed data' chart. Yesterday, I could easily reproduce
the problem more than 15 times under several conditions (new window,
restart TS, etc). It seemed like a very clearly reproducable problem, and
I was awaiting a reply from Omega to report what they say they wanted to
know.
BUT - today I can't get it to crash at all or show any signs of the
behavior yesterday. Very strange! The computer was left on overnight, and
nothing else was done to it after the last time I made it crash/restart.
The same chart that caused the problem was on the screen, as it was the
many times it crashed, but I did not click on it - just turned off the
monitor.
The good side is the problem "went away." The bad side is I am left with a
sense of apprehension that it could recur at any time. Yesterday, TS2k was
essentially unusable for trading, today it shows no sign of the problem.
Good thing I'm not using TS2k for 'real'.
A larger problem is that Omega would have a very hard time fixing this,
given that it is intermittent. I understand the difficulty of dealing with
this kind of problem. It would be nice to know how many of these
intermittent problems are still in TS2k, lurking to strike and ruin your
day.
I have found many 'glitches' in TS2k, and *most* were not cut-and-dried
reproducable, which is what Omega asks for (can't blame them for that).
When it is not easily reproducable, it is not clear that Omega does
anything about it at the current time (future..?).
It would seem that, as a goal for real 'stability', SP15-17 (ala TS4) is
becoming more realistic every day...
