I'm actually neither particularly unhappy nor vindictive. I also
appreciate some of the so-called spam on the list and have found useful
things there, but when someone does the equivalent of 'psst, wanna buy a
watch?' , I get a tad tinkled. I get about 20 pieces of spam a day. If
the person was merely advertising his website as Mark Brown (among many
others) have done on this list, (especially if they[ve actually contributed
useful into to the list in the past) I would have no objection, but this
"contact me privately" stuff just smells bad. My action was not motivated
by vindictiveness, just by the thought that if enough of us do this sort of
thing consistently, it will begin to put a dent in the volume of spam we
all have to deal with. -uf
