Re: WHEN WILL YOU FIX THE PROBLEM OF EXPORTING DATA ON SEVERAL DISKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you David for your constructive answer,

I find those removable disks and Drive units very cheap!

But I already have a IOMEGA JAZ with 2 Go removable disks.
And I have been experiencing this problem several times WHILE making backups
with IOMEGA.

I sent a mail to Omega about 2 months ago and they answered me that this
problem was known and would be fixed.

For me it's important to be able to make regular backups because some
European Data are difficult to find once you've lost them.

But my opinion is that the best way to backup is to NOT USE the export
function of the GlobalServer but simply copy the entire Omega Folder.
Much faster (30 minutes) and safer!!

Rgds,

Philippe

Philippe,

Don't hold your breath. I'd suggest you investigate the following as a
less stressful solution (since this isn't the only outstanding bug).

http://www.castlewood.com

Drive unit runs about $200.
Removable 2.2gig disks run $30.
Transfer rate is 12M/sec I believe.
Interfaces include parallel, SCSI, EIDE and USB. Transfer rates will vary
though.

That should buy you some time about worrying about overflowing the disk...

FWIW... I haven't tried one of these yet since I just heard about this last
week, but I will probably move in that direction.
