> Why is historical data an issue ?

1. so you can get old data for a new symbol you decide you want to
track.

2. so you can fill gaps if you have a crash or feed problem.

3. so you don't have to leave your computer running 24/7. imagine coming
back from vacation, turning on the computer and, in a few minutes
downloading all the data you missed while you were gone and having your
charts automatically update.

omega's data is very dirty and has lots of gaps. much better to get it
directly from the data vendor. as well, to add a year for a single
symbol using omega's data requires pasting in 260+/- individual files.
and you can't really do an auto paste because your clean data for other
symbols will be overwritten by omega's dirty data. so you have to do it
day by day. major pita.

if the dynastore folks can figure out a way to access historical tick
data from the qcom database and automatically paste it into ts4, it will
be a MAJOR plus.... enough that most people would probably dump bmi and
switch to qcom/dynastore. better data and cheaper too ($80 + exhange
fees). i don't know if it's possible given the ts4 architecture but it
sure would be nice.

ps - are you listening bmi? if you don't start providing historical
data, your customers are going elsewhere. it can't be that hard to save
the ticks and post them to an ftp site. futuresource, qcom and others
already do it. you can too.
