No and No. The CBOT is =investigating= splitting equity
ownership and trading rights. If this can be accomplished,
members would be able to retain their right to trading floor
access while selling their "share" of ownership of the
exchange.
It does =not= mean that pit trading will necessarily cease
to exist nor that the current Eurex Alliance is dead and,
most importantly, nor is it a done deal. In fact, it will
probably take months for the committee to submit its
proposal to the membership and then, of course, it could be
voted down.
Query: What's the deal with side-by-side trading of the
Eurodollars? Volume in the Euro pit is still crushing Globex
volume. We may be writing the pits epitaphs too quickly.
