In most cases, you'll find the GIF format better for charts.
Typically, a full-screen capture (1024x768) of a chart will be about:
1M as a clipboard file
350K as a bitmap
100K as a jpg
20K as a gif
The jpg format becomes useful when you're dealing with photographs
or other real-world images where its lossy compression works better
than the gif.
